Teaching Listening-speaking Online: Tools and Tricks

Rezwana Islam, lecturer, Center for Language Studies (CLS), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, conducted a webinar titled “Teaching Listening-Speaking Online: Tools and Tricks” on 27 October, 2020 in Google meet platform. The session mainly displayed usage of different tools like meet attendance, breakout room extension and necessary shortcut keys for conducting listening-speaking lesson through Google meet and Google classroom. The speaker talked about the three stages of lesson and necessary tech-related preparation for each stage. With reference to Kolb’s (2017) Triple E Framework, different ways were suggested to minimize the teaching challenges and maximize learner response online. This session was attended by Dr. Shaila Sultana, Advisor of CLS, Adjunct-Faculty, DEH, ULAB, Professor, Department of English Language, IML, DU, faculty members and peer tutors of CLS as well as teachers from different universities in Bangladesh. In the question-answer session, participants discussed and shared ways to motivate learners in online classes.
