Webinar on Strategies to Promote Critical Thinking in EFL Classes

  

 

The Center for Language Studies (CLS), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh organized a webinar on Critical thinking for EFL/EAP learners on September 4, 2020, in Google meet platform. Ms. Iram Mehrin, lecturer, CLS, conducted this webinar. She highlighted the importance of active listening and including both native as well as target culture elements to develop critical thinking skill in learners.  She provided examples of activities which can be incorporated in the class for active listening. The application of 3p model of culture was also demonstrated by connecting it with the personal experience of the participants. To explore multidimensional learner identity, wheel of identity chart was presented with examples. The critical thinking rubrics and charts were shared by the facilitator after the session. The moderator of the session, Razia Sultana, senior lecturer and CLS coordinator, finished the session with a vote of thanks and her reflections on the session.
