Online workshop on Designing Interactive Classroom

Afroza Akhter Tina, faculty of English at Daffodil International University, facilitated a two hours long online workshop on “Designing Interactive Classroom” as a part of sharing experience on blended learning on June 25, 2020 in Google Meet platform. Dr. Shaila Sultana, Advisor of CLS, Adjunct-Faculty, DEH, ULAB, Professor, Department of English Language, IML, DU and the faculty members of the CLS were present in the workshop. The session moderator Ms. Rajia Sultana, Coordinator, CLS introduced the speaker who has a substantial background in online teaching for one of the reputed private universities of Bangladesh.  The workshop focused on the importance of using blended learning platforms to maximize teacher productivity and student engagement. Ms. Afroja described the advantages of organizational learning management system (LMS) which provided the flexibility of sharing materials and giving deadlines online. The workshop was preceded by her experience of setting up the classroom, choosing suitable materials and creating discussion forum to increase student participation along with different types of assessment followed by manual and autoscoring methods. The question answer session reflected on the advantages of using various learning platforms in the virtual environment and how extensive training needs to cope with it. The session ended with CLS advisor Dr. Shaila Sultana’s remarks about the importance of online course design before the course starts in order to ensure a smooth transition from physical to virtual academic learning environment.
